Typically at industry conferences much of the focus is placed around issues
such as technology, standards, business models and ecosystems. Sadly, the
customer is often completely left off-stage. This time, by taking a
customer-focused approach, the conference aims to understand clearly WHY
contactless and NFC has been so successful in other regions (eg Japan, Asia).
We will also explore WHAT can be done to replicate the success in other regions
on a global basis. We will also discuss WHO needs to kick start this process as
waiting for a perfect ecosystem to manifest itself does not appear to be
working so far!

This session will address the major to-day’s themes regarding the security of the smart supports: What is the actual level of security provided by the present mart supports? What are the new threats, the vulnerabilities? Dematerialization requires a suitable level of security for each application. What will the smart card role be? Tomorrow, what will the place be for other form factors such as USB tokens and NFC telephones? Are contactless supports less secure than supports with contact? Speakers will present the most recent state of the art illustrated by real cases.

How to ensure the merchant and to his customer as
well, that a POS terminal will have a genuine behaviour, i.e. the customer will
pay the indicated amount, without any hacking of his sensitive data, and that
the merchant will not be in a delicate situation towards the banking community
and the card networks, especially regarding the PCI requirements? Which
consequences will be generated by taking into consideration these new security
issues in the payment chain? Will savings made on fraud justify security
additional cost?
